A Flavourable Cause “en français” A Taste of Burgundy

On 23 November 2011 our club celebrated the wonderful Burgundy wines in our annual wine tasting fundraising event at The Hamilton Club. Our efforts are dedictated to support the Foodshare, Telling Tales and Polio Plus. Our amazing guest,  Sebastien Jacquey, Winemaker at Le Clos Jordanne, helped us discover the specificities of 3 White and 3 Red Burgundy wines, the “terroir” concept, and how to choose wines that fit our specific taste.

The delicious hors d’oeuvres prepared by chef Michael Vogt pleased our palates while our guests were entertained with our amusing contests. The jury was truly amazed by the performance of our guests at the French speaking contest, and we would like to congratulate again Adrienne Davidson who delighted us with her impeccable accent.

We would like to thank again our sponsors, Mackenzie Financial and Tyco Flow Controls for their generous donation, as well as all the donors that chose to support our silent auction.

Thank you all for your amazing support, and please come again next year as we will be presenting wines from the Bordeaux region.

3rd Annual Telling Tales Festival

Step through Westfield’s Gates of Time into a storybook village where historical figures mingle with contemporary children’s literary stars on this magical day. Plan to attend the 3rd Annual Telling Tales Festival on Sunday, September 18, 2011 – all ages will find it entertaining and unforgettable. More than a celebration of stories and storytelling, Telling Tales is an important fundraising event, committed to providing financial assistance to much-needed local literacy programs. In our second year, we were successful in raising $45,000 for local literacy projects.
